YCW programme

A YCW Groups consist of approximately 6-12 young people aged between 18 and 30 years.

YCW deals with real issues, the things that affect young people everyday. They are the leaders and they decide the programme of action. Starting with their own lives, the members of the group are encouraged to Review their Life and look at possible solutions to bring about change.

YCW local groups reflect on their own needs and the needs of those around them through taking action. This action is decided in the group through discussions called enquiries.

During the Review of Life each member is given the opportunity to discuss the issues which affect them directly and is supported and encouraged by the other members of the group. Using the method of See, Judge, Act, the members reflect upon their daily experiences. This process of reflection and analysis helps us to arrive at possibilities for action. These actions are often taken in the local community, organising events or activities at local level or personally such as seeking out information for group members on issues of concern, offering support and encouragement to face difficult situations. Issues discussed at local level form the basis of the Movements National Campaigns.

Action is the hallmark of YCW, it is only through Action that we can bring about change and a more just society. In this way YCW can contribute to the development of the individual, the local community and society.
