Lorcan Hayden on how YCW has made a huge change in his life

From the 23rd to the 28th of February 2008, young people from all over Europe descended on the city of Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania (Northern Romania) for the Young Christian Workers' formation session. The theme of this particular session was unemployment and young people, informal, formal and contract employment. Representing the Irish Movement were Jenny Casey, YCW Development Worker, and Lorcan Hayden, YCW member, Prosperous.

« Ireland, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Australia and Ukraine took part in the Young Christian Workers' formation session in Romania in February 2008.

 

Since I joined YCW it has made a huge change in my life and opened up a lot of opportunities for me, but as far as Romania goes it made me think more about choosing a job. The experience was great for me, and something I will take with me for life.

 

I was chosen to go by the National Team as I have been involved with YCW for a while now, they got to know me better and I also got to know them and the Movement's method better. They saw that I was in and out of jobs that I didn't really want or like, I was in them just for money for the weekends. But now I am looking for a career, not just money.

 

It was super that I got to go as I would never have gotten the chance to do this anywhere else. I learnt a lot and made some great friends, it was just another adventure that YCW put me on that has helped me in my life, but also something that was enjoyable as well.
