The first IMPACT! meeting
The first meeting will basically be an introduction. Ask each person to introduce themselves by telling their name, age, where they live etc.
Responsibilities
Explain to the group that you are trying to organise a group of young leaders. This involves taking on responsibility. These responsibilities include:
- Chairing meetings.
- Leading the Enquiry.
- Taking minutes.
- Collecting subscriptions.
- Preparing the room for meetings.
- Taking Actions which may involve writing letters, organising trips or events or working as part of a Team.
- Activating other young people (Involving others in your Actions).
You will need to organise someone who will chair the next meeting, lead the Enquiry and take notes. These duties are outlined under roles and responsibilities.
These roles should be discussed and whoever feels comfortable with taking them on should meet with the Animator/Chaplain to prepare for the next meeting. The group should decide which Enquiry they wish to do from the list provided.
For the first couple of weeks these roles will change, until everyone has had a chance of chairing, leading the Enquiry or taking minutes. The group can then elect a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer who will remain as the group's committee for six months after which the group may decide to hold another election. The Enquiry Leader however changes every week in order to give each member the opportunity of leading the discussion for the evening.
