This resource was produced in conjunction with the English and Maltese YCW Movements with all training and filming taking place in Malta in 2008. Young adults from each Movement worked on the project by writing, producing and editing the enquiries and received training in camera operations, sound recording and direction. All training was provided by Bob Walters (BBC accredited trainer). In all twenty nine mini films were recorded.
The "Challenge to Lead" pack contains a guide for young people and the adult Animator or chaplain who will accompany the group. It also includes the "Challenge to Lead" DVD, with 29 video clips presenting discussion starters and scripture reflections.
The accompanying booklet includes twelve themed enquiries which guide the group through the DVD. The following enquiries are explored using the YCW method of See-Judge-Act:
"Challenge to Lead" allows young adults to explore themes and issues which affect their lives as young workers, friends, family members, members of society, as consumers and as Christians.
The "Challenge to Lead" booklet and DVD will help you form a group of leaders who will meet regularly (ideally each week or fortnight) to reflect on their everyday lives.
By sharing situations, discovering your mission in the light of the Gospels, and acting for change, you will contribute towards the building of a society which is based on true justice, love and peace. The programme will help you look at what is relevant in the lives of young adults today and aid you and them in challenging their lives.
The "Challenge to Lead" enquiries are designed to be used as part of a weekly (or fortnightly) meeting of a YCW group. You can use the enquiries in two ways:

Work Live to work or work to live? We will all undertake a variety of jobs, from part-time to full-time to voluntary. Some jobs we do are simply to earn money and some jobs are more of a vocation in life for us. Other things we devote time to simply because we are passionate about them. |

Religious diversity Mutual understanding or mutual love? There are many people of different faiths. Some people know a lot about other people's faiths, some don't know very much. Fear of others makes us act differently towards them. How much do we really understand and tolerate faiths other than our own? What are we doing in our own lives and communities to improve things? |
Designed specifically for young adults 16-25 years who are no longer in full time education "Challenge to Lead" is challenging but truly worthwhile!
