Fr. Eoin McCrystal
Contact Eoin: |
Eoin was born and bred in Ballyfermot Dublin. He attended the local De La Salle Brothers Primary School, Vocational School Kylemore Road and the Ballyfermot Senior College.
Around the time when Eoin was attending Ballyfermot College, Eoin's brother, Peter, a member of the local Young Christian Workers section, set up the first IMPACT group in Ireland and Eoin became a member. This was his first experience of the YCW method in action and it was to be a continuous influence even to this day. Two years later Eoin was elected Regional President of the 12 Impact Groups in Dublin and was heavily involved in establishing new groups in parishes around the city.
In 1983 he entered Clonliffe College to begin training for the priesthood in Dublin diocese. His studies were in UCD and the Gregorian University in Rome. Ordained in 1990 Eoin was sent teaching in Swords and resumed his contact with YCW after establishing a local group.
In 1996 Eoin got the opportunity to become Full Time National Chaplain with the YCW. This was a time of restructuring in the movement, especially in the areas of finance and the full time staff. In 2000 he was appointed curate in Iona Road but continued as National Chaplain in a part-time capacity. This is still the case today in his current appointment as Parish Priest in Holy Trinity Parish, Donaghmede with responsibility for the developing area of Clongriffin/Balgriffin. |
